First Workshop for Building the Foundations of the Metaverse (MetaBuild 2022)

The First Workshop for Building the Foundations of the Metaverse (MetaBuild 2022), in conjunction with IEEE VR 2022, aims to bring together system researchers, engineers and content creators to identify open directions and discuss the latest research ideas and results on technological foundations towards the development of the upcoming metaverse ecosystem. The MetaBuild ’22 workshop focuses on engineering building blocks of the metaverse and the novel approach for content creation in the metaverse. The topics include but are not limited to the following:

  • Engineering the metaverse
    • Mixed Reality
    • computer vision
    • IoT and robotics
    • Blockchain
    • User Interaction
    • Future Networking Technologies
    • Cloud and Edge Computing
    • Artificial Intelligence
    • Avatar and presence
    • Virtual economy
    • Social acceptability
    • Privacy and ethics
  • Content creation in and for the metaverse
    • Cinematic
    • Imagery
    • Textual
    • Musical

Authors are encouraged to submit papers describing original and unpublished research, not currently under review in other venues. We strongly encourage the authors to communicate their works using a variety of communication media, including text, images, photos, sketches, and to name but a few. In particular, innovative, early-stage ideas and preliminary results are welcome. Authors are suggested to use the IEEE TVCG Conference Format with a length of no longer than 6 pages (excluding references) for short papers and position papers, and 2 pages for a demonstration. The reviews will be double blind. At least one of the authors of every accepted paper must register and present the paper at the workshop.
