Télécom Paris is recruiting an Assistant/Associate Professor in Human-Computer Interaction for Virtual/Augmented/Mixed Reality. It is open to all eligible candidates in HCI, Visualisation or related disciplines with an application to VR/AR/XR.

ABOUT THE RESEARCH GROUP

Research activities will be conducted in the DIVA (Design, Interaction, Visualisation & Applications) group of the Computer Science & Networking department. The group research activities focus on novel interaction techniques (particularly with respect to large and small-scale devices), VR/AR/XR, information visualisation, digital fabrication & design, and new technologies for teaching.

The successful candidate will lead HCI and/or Visualization research in VR/AR/XR and is expected to develop and reinforce the team’s leadership in these areas and to contribute to the team’s multidisciplinary focus. Candidates should have a track record of high-quality publications in HCI, Visualization, XR, and/or related fields.

The candidate will also work in collaboration with faculty in the design, psychology/ergonomics, 3D graphics, and multimedia groups of the LTCI and CNRS I3 research laboratories of Télécom Paris and the broader Institut Polytechnique de Paris community.

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

  • Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Computer Science, HCI, or equivalent.
    • Candidates who do not currently hold a Ph.D., but will defend their Ph.D. by November 15, 2022, will also be considered.
  • French is not required, but candidates must be willing to learn.

TEACHING CONTEXT

Teaching activities in these domains and in computer science (programming, software engineering, etc.) will take place at Télécom Paris and Institut Polytechnique de Paris.

ACADEMIC RANK & CAREER EVOLUTION

The proposed position is a full-time, permanent position (with tenure, “CDI de droit publique”). Depending on level of experience, the successful candidate will obtain the Assistant Professor or Associate Professor title. The latter is given to the candidates having the French habilitation diploma, HDR (Habilitation à Diriger des Recherches) or an equivalent international academic experience.

SELECTION PROCESS

  • Selected candidates may be invited to give an informal research talk (in-person or remote)
    • Talks may be scheduled during the open call period and given between the application deadline and formal auditions.
  • Application deadline: October 3, 2022.
  • Formal auditions will be held November 7, 2022.
    • All selected candidates will auditioned on the same day.
    • Auditioned candidates will be ranked immediately following auditions; all candidates will know their ranking.
  • Candidates are expected to start in calendar year 2022.
