The ATA Fall Forum 2011 will be a different type of meeting, with short presentations focused on innovative ideas that are revolutionizing healthcare. We are looking for talks, demonstrations or other inventive presentation formats on a wide range of telemedicine subject areas. Topics might include: a unique approach to delivering telehealth services, a new and better device, a successful way of introducing telemedicine to providers or consumers, a novel way to organize and fund a program, a fresh look at overcoming a barrier. Don’t be afraid to push, stretch or even rip-open the envelope!

The Forum will contain two general types of presentations. Interested parties are invited to submit an abstract for either presentation type.

• MACROS: 20 minute presentations, exploring the big ideas and trends that will shape telemedicine and healthcare in the next 3-5 years. Macro presentations can be given by a single presenter or as a team, but must be delivered as one coherent, continuous production. No traditional panel presentations, please!
• MICROS: 10 minute presentations focusing on specific, innovative (and effective) solutions to the issues facing telemedicine. This is your chance to show the world how your particular program, product or service is on the cutting edge of telemedicine. Micro presentations are delivered by a single speaker.

For both presentation types, the following guidelines apply:

• Be creative, be innovative. The presentation formats listed above provide only a general framework. We encourage presenters to be innovative in how they structure their own presentation within these guidelines. Demonstrations and inventive presentations are particularly desired.
• The stage is all yours. The Summit is a one-track meeting. There will be no panel discussions and no breakout sessions. Design your presentation for a wide-ranging audience.
• But you only get the stage. No podiums, lecterns, greenrooms or teleprompters will be available.
• Avoid PowerPointitis. Multimedia presentation technology will be available for slides, video clips or other imaging but “death by PowerPoint” is discouraged.
• The time for questions is over. There will be no question and answer time after each presentation. Instead there will be ample breaks intended for thinking and discussion with attendees.
• Keep it non-commercial. No sales speeches or plugs for your organization, product or service.
• Practice makes perfect. Please rehearse your presentation before the meeting. If possible ATA would like to receive a video of your presentation in advance so we can provide suggestions.
• The revolution will be televised. All presentations at the ATA Summit will be simulcast on the internet, recorded and subsequently posted on the ATA website. Presenters must sign a release allowing ATA to record, video edit and distribute their presentation.

Presenters pay a reduced registration fee of $100 for the meeting. ATA does not pay for travel of speakers.

We expect to receive many abstract submissions for this event and creativity will be the key determinant in the selection of presentation. ATA will use a panel of telemedicine leaders to evaluate submissions and decide which ones will be accepted. They will be looking for ideas and presenters that are interesting, relevant and thought-provoking.

ATA will have Fall Forum attendees vote for the best presentation and most creative presentation at the end of the meeting. Winners will receive a certificate and be recognized on the ATA website.
