OVERVIEW:

HSI conference series has become the most important international conference in the field of Human System Interactions, human system science and engineering, human factors in large complex systems, human space computing and cyber-physical systems, human environment interactions, and social-technical systems. HSI 2012 is technically sponsored by IEEE Industrial Electronic Society, IEEE-IES Technical Committee on Industrial Informatics and IEEE-IES Technical Committee on Human Factors. This international conference in Human System Interactions will be held in Perth, Western Australia from 6 to 8 June, 2012. The conference covers theory, design and application of human-system interactions in the areas of science, education, business, industry, services, humanity, environment, health, and government. Aside from the regular presentations, the conference will include keynote addresses with speakers from both industry and academia, and expects to attract 400 participants.

PAPER SUBMISSION:

Submit a full paper with 8 pages (IEEE Computer Society Proceedings Manuscripts style: two columns, single-spaced), including figures and references, using a font size 10, and number each page. You can confirm the IEEE Computer Society Proceedings Author Guidelines at http://computer.org/cspress/instruct.htm

Accepted papers will be given guidelines in preparing and submitting the final manuscript(s) together with the notification of acceptance. The proceedings will be published by the IEEE Computer Society Press. At least one of the authors of accepted papers is required to register and present the work at the conference for including their paper in the digital library.

We are pleased to host the 5th International Conference on Human System Interaction (HSI-2012) in Perth, Western Australia. Perth city is located on the Swan River and close to the Indian Ocean, which contributes to Perth’s temperate climate. Perth was voted one of the top 5 most liveable cities in the world (The Economist, 2008) and is leading the way in innovation, investment, industry development and exports. There is something here for everyone, either adventurous or relaxed. Perth, with its many parks, is surrounded by wonderful areas for site seeing including wineries, beaches, wildlife and natural wonders such as Wave Rock, the Pinnacles, Ningaloo Reef and the beehive-like formations of the Bungle Bungles which can be seen in WA’s far North West with the help of an Aboriginal guide. In the city, a traveller can enjoy a cold beer in an open-air pub, affordable shopping, the bustling weekend markets, and a variety of international cuisine. Just outside the Perth city centre is the Perth district of Northbridge where you will find a range of pubs, cafes and eateries, offering an eclectic mix of cultures and cuisines.

The Sunset Coast is a place for those who enjoy long relaxing walks along clean sandy beaches, swimming in the surf on a warm sunny day, or perhaps lazing on a beach towel while watching the world go by. The Port City of Fremantle, just south of Perth, is a popular spot, particularly on weekends when you will find markets, entertainment and plenty of alfresco style cafes and eateries. The Swan Valley Region is steeped in history and is one of Western Australia’s oldest wine regions. The region is home to more than 40 vineyards, many of which are still run by the original families which started the wineries many years ago.

ABOUT CURTIN UNIVERSITY:
