Submission deadline: January 19, 2023

Dear Friends of Game Studies,

My name is Richy Srirachanikorn.

I am an MA student affiliated with the Technoculture, Arts and Games (TAG) Research Centre at Concordia University. On the 4th February 2023, we are hosting a day-long symposium “LOSTAGAIN/NOSTALGIA” at the Milieux Institute.

I would like to invite any colleagues with research interests on time, nostalgia, collective memory, the social/coping utility of emotional video games, identity, and play in a serious world to consider applying as a Panelist or Workshop Leader.

Our deadline is Thursday, 19th January 2023.

The crux of this symposium is to investigate how productivity can be achieved with the possibilities of video games. Specifically, how can the emotions and emulations of a lost PAST in video games be used to prevent a FUTURE of repeating losses? If nostalgic gaming means we are “LostAgain” in our technologies, then how can we ensure what is “Found” on the other end of the experience may contribute to social kindness, collective responsibility, or simply, hope?

How can video games serve as vehicles of social change, of coping mechanisms, or self-continuation using nostalgia (Boym, 2001)?

or reach out to our symposium email at projectlostagain@gmail.com

Virtual options to be released in mid-January on our website above.
